This is the 100th post here at Thimbly Things, and we’re celebrating with a good old-fashioned giveaway!

In the comments section of this post, tell me what inspires you or a design you’d like to see at Thimbly Things. Links are very welcome!

The deadline is Tuesday, August 19th at 11:59 p.m. CST. On The following Wednesday, I’ll do a random drawing to see who the lucky winner is.

And since embroidery was my first crafty love (Thank you, Page!), the prize at stake is a set of 6 embroidered napkins that I poured my heart into a few years ago. There are 2 of each design: a sugardish, a creamer, and a teacup.

Now let’s hear those fabulous ideas! :)

I love simple, elegant, flowers. I am a paper crafter/artist, and I am often inspired by florals and floral design. I am a big believer in less is more.

First of all, those napkins are absolutely beautifull! I would love to see theme based designs on napkins. One for the fall (colored leaves), winter (snowflakes), spring (maybe a rainbow after it rains ) and summer (flowers especially roses). I always try to decorate my house based on those themes and I think napkins with those themes would add an extra zing to my decorations!

Thanks for the opportunity to win those gorgeous napkins!

I am inspired by nature. I love to go out for a walk and see how the earth has changed with the seasons. When you’re taking cues from nature’s changes and incorporating them into your art you can never go wrong!

  11. Amanda Weber Says:

Caffeine inspires me. After a cup of coffee I can get so pumped about a project. Have you ever made a slip cover for a couch or recovered some furniture? I’d like to see what your creative brain could come up with. Actually, my younger sister inherited a hideous couch and I told her I’d make a slip cover for it, but I have no idea what I’m doing.

  12. Ruthanne Says:

I am inspired by the ocean, Christmas and fighting a worthy battle.

    : )

  13. Ruthanne Says:

    Oh, and chocolate, too!

  14. CB Says:

I am inspired by classical music, flowers, and my family. A design that would be neat is a book (or books) embroidered on napkins or a tablecloth.

  15. Michelle Says:

My precious baby faces inspire me.

  16. Ruth Derrick Says:

I’m guessing as a relative, I’m disqualified, but I’ll add a comment anyway. I love things that are beautiful yet practical. So what I mean is something I can use in everyday life that impresses me with its lovliness. Sufficiently vague?

  17. Anita Hiltz Says:

WOW! Those linens are gorgeous!!! You do fabulous work! I am in love with and inspired by vintage goodies and images that bring back memories of childhood and reminds me of my grandparents, back to those simpler times. Looking at the lovely ones you are giving away (and hoping that I win, lol), I could picture some embroidered Blue Birds on them which was a classic vintage design you can find on towels and pillowcases! :) Thanks for parting with your lovely pieces that you created…that must have been hard to do!

Hi Kristena, this is Mary. I heard you’re having a contest and I would love to be part of it. Well, I would have to say that folk, classical, and many parts of music inspire me. I hope that’s not to dorky for you. Anyway, a design that I might would like to see you do is traditional Celtic fairy book style art, vintage renaissance or ( what Anita Hiltz recommened) many different types of vintage goodies…actually I really don’t know what I want to see. Sorry I said so much, tell the family I said hi and keep being creative.

  19. Maddie Says:

Babies! And young children, they are what inspire me.. their thirst for knowledge and contentment with simplicity, I love it.

  20. Michelle Says:

Your embroidery is just gorgeous! Kids inspire me, the way they look at things with such fresh eyes. No preconceived notions, and sometimes the most surprising ideas pop out of their little minds!

  21. Caitlin Says:

I would love to see the white kitchen towels embroidered with vegetables. I think they would really make the towel fun and fabulous! I love vegetables in the kitchen. I love your stuff, very cute!

  22. Marie Says:

You are my idol! Such beautiful photos of your imaginative work and your adorable children!
Ijust found your site today following link after link and ending up here to see your Brobee. My granddaughter loves YGG and quotes it all the time. How you manage to get so much done with two young ones is a wonder. Well done!
P.S. My mother had the coffee and sugar needlepoints. She had stitched them and they were hanging in our kitchen for many years. Seeing them brought back memories.

  23. Marie Says:

Oh, I forgot to tell you my inspirations. Well, beside my family, blogs like yours and many others. Seeing all the beautiful, innovative work others are doing, motivates me to do more. Sometimes I start more than I finish but don’t we all!

  24. Ruby Says:

I am inspired by the mountains and my family, but also by people around me that I know who have succeeded because they kept trying.

I think that embroidery of old children’s book illustrations would be really neat.
I also like the vintage “Days of the week” type embroidery — Monday wash day, Tuesday string beans, etc.
Thanks for a chance to win, those are absolutely beautiful, and if I won, they would be a gift for my mentor, who loves tea more than anyone else I’ve met.

  34. Karen Says:

With the holidays approaching, some Christmas themes would be adorable!

  35. Miranda Says:

I find inspiration in so many places! design magazines, many people’s blogs, cultural art… Some designs I’d like to see would be hedgehogs, snapdragons, aprons, spinning wheels, goats… is that random enough? hehe

  36. InnovativeMomma Says:

The Proverbs 31 woman inspires me! She looks well to the ways of her household…Proverbs 31

Who is this Proverbs 31 woman? What does she look like? Where do you find her? How do you become her? I pondered this thought ~ wondered, searched, read, studied even. I hoped and dreamed for her influence in my life.

And recently I have found her. Discovered her actually, for she was here all the time.

She is my friend. Read more on my blog!

  37. Jenna Says:

I would love to see animals, cats, dogs, birds.

  38. Laine Chambers Says:

Those napkins are beautiful! I learned to embroider when I was on complete bedrest with my daughter. She was my first so I had alot of time on my hands! I embroidered two pillowcases that said “His” and “Hers” and had a beautiful flower and leaf design around it. Knowing how difficult and time consuming it can be, I really respect your work!

I find creative inspiration in my kids. They have wild imaginations! I also get creative ideas from other bloggers who are a lot more “crafty” than I am.

I would love to see something with sort of a “toile” design. I love toile and it’s so classic yet a little on the vintage side.

  39. Jenny Says:

Crazy as it sounds, I get lots of design ideas from commercials. Especially the mini clips inbetween all my kids shows on cartoon network. They work great for scrapbook layouts.

  40. Rachele Says:

I am a fairy tale fanatic, and try to incorporate elements of fantasy within my projects. I have stacks of books with the fairy tale lore of every culture imaginable, and frequently turn to them for my inspiration.

  41. Liz Says:

My inspiration comes from my kids or a need. I’d just like to say that you do beautiful work.

  42. Honey Smith Says:

I think your teacup napkins are beautiful. While I don’t do needlework, I am inspired by God’s creation. Always amazed at the designs and colors (He could have made everything gray-but look around!) I like to scrapbook, sew a little, cook, decorate, and be outdoors with my 5 little ones.

  43. Kat Says:

My children inspire me! When we play we create. We might decide we are princesses and then we stop, mind racing and create tiaras, wands or even the castle with mote. A walk in the woods might reap an artful arrangement of wildflowers.Sometimes we plan crafts but most often they are spontaneous!

  44. striving mom Says:

Anything with a vintage feel is great … cherries, apples, girls in bonnets wearing dresses and watering flowers, tulips. I have not seen new towels like this … what a great idea! :)

  45. kathy Says:

i love to look at my grandmother’s quilt-tops and think about some day actually quilting them (first I have to learn how to quilt!) I love looking through country living magazine also. thanks.
