I just can’t resist a good alliteration.  Anyway, some Flickr users must not allow the use of their photos in mosaics & such.  But you can see the missing ones if you click on their respective links. :)

Happy Friday!

5.  Leather-working (Yep.  I’m doin’ it.  And I had a hard time finding a link about it that wasn’t related to World of Warcraft.  Huh.)

6.  Little houses (look at this cuteness)

7.  Bread pudding made from ruined raisin bread

get over a sinus infection?  Evan and I are still pretty sick around here.

I’m behind on my correspondence, but I did manage a Wardrobe Refashion.  Before:

After:

This was quick.  I spent the majority of my time picking the rhinestones off the butterfly and choosing a design that would cover it.

Thanks, Mama Debbie, for the hoodie! :)

And on the verge of walking.

Today, Jacob is:

  • sucking his thumb and not his pacifier (who needs that old thing?!)
  • laughing at his sister
  • and sometimes pulling her hair
  • saying “mamamamama” and “duhduhduhduhduhduh”
  • blowing bubbles, gurgling, and spitting a lot

  • eating Cheerios, teething biscuits, and peas on his own
  • standing in his crib when he’s finished napping
  • violently nom-ing his stuffed toys
  • attacking the DVD player
  • overcoming all obstacles between the remote control and himself

He’s cute and generally easy-going.  And I love him so.

So how about a healthy dose of Vitamin C?

In the spirit of A Year of Mornings, I present to you a tangerine diptych.

Happy Friday, everyone!

EDIT: How do you like my new, orange-y banner? :)

Seriously.  Have you seen this yet?

Hey, thanks for the couch love.  I feel affirmed.

If you don’t love the couch and are too polite to say so, that’s okay too.  We can still be friends. :)  And I’ll even be friends with those who used words like “ugly” and “fugly” in reference to my new love (*cough* male friends *cough*).

Jan 13

New to me, anyway.  My dear friend, Mindy, is moving and needed to get rid of this hand-me-down.  It was me or Goodwill.

So I asked Evan and his friend to pick it up on Sunday.  When they brought it home for me, they were both confounded.

Evan: You really wanted this?  It’s so ugly!

Craig: At least you can recover it.  Is that what you were thinking?

Um…

Evan: Did you know it was this color?  You like it?

Um.  Yes.

Evan: Oh.  Well.  At least we have a sleeper sofa now.

Yeah!  We really needed a guest bed.

The truth is, I like this weird little loveseat.  I like it a lot.  If I have to, I’ll put it in the garage and build a space around it just for me.  Just so I can enjoy my vintage, pea-colored, velvety seat and be judged if I must.

Welcome home. :)

Jan 12

This is still a work-in-progress, but I thought I’d share the breakfast nook today.  It seems to be welcoming a new week, don’t you think?  Below the chairrail - that’s what I painted last week.  I didn’t bother taping because I don’t have any blue painter’s tape.  And I didn’t bother using a paint roller either.  I just went to it with some brushes, primer, and paint.  I cannot recommend this approach, but it worked for me.

Evan was playing Call of Duty for about an hour and a half before he came in and realized what I was doing.  He said he thought I was scrubbing the floor.

In my mind, scrubbing the floor seems like a much more shocking venture for me than painting a wall on a whim.  ;)

Jan 08

Yep.  I never knew what that was.  I took pictures while using the “Aperture Priority” setting on my camera, but I didn’t know what the heck was changing.  Until.  Until the Pioneer Woman who insisted that with enough brain-washing, all of us could get it.  Really!

Check out all of her excellent photography lessons.  I like her.

I took this picture today on the manual setting and tinkered with the aperture and shutter speed.  As I was taking it, the sun was so bright that I couldn’t tell those buds were pink.

Okay, and I decided to share this with you too.  I love it, but I would.  I fixed the exposure and used the cross-process filter in Picnik.  Now that’s more like it. :)
