Hi Kristena,
The vase looks beautiful, can you please tell me which fabric stiffener did you use, also is it an aerosol or liquid? and did it change the colour of your yarn? I'm looking for something to work on silk, but my worry is that the pattern on the fabric is a bit dark and when I tried one of these products, the effect was like the fabric got wet and colours went "moody"/"muddy", much darker than dry version of the fabric. So if you could give me your opinion on this matter, it will be fantastic. Thank you.

This is awesome!

A long, looong time ago I inherited some crochet patterns from my Nanny (grandmother, not Mary Poppins type of Nanny) that showed you how to make shaped bowls and baskets. I have it in my head that they showed you how to make the stiffener at home, possibly from sugar?!?!
I hardly ever throw anything out so I'm sure I'll have these somewhere, I'll look them out tonight. Yours is wonderful, you've inspired me to give it a go.
