By now, you might think this has turned into a blog about sewing shirts. I assure you, it hasn’t. But I have a few more things to show you before I’ve totally burned myself out. :)

This tunic is a combination of Simplicity 4589, McCall’s 5388, and my own modifications. I liked the length and width of the McCall’s pattern (which I used for this top). But I wanted a sleeveless top with a yoke (like the dress that inspired it all). I made the yoke much wider than the pattern called for, but I kept the neckline wide enough to slip over my head. I also topstitched everything.
I’m in love with this fabric. It’s cotton. It’s comfortable. It’s got some weight to it. It has texture. It’s bold but not too bold. Also: I paid about $7 for all of it and can probably make Emily a dress or a shirt out of what’s left.
Now I need to sew up some leggings. Got any ideas?

this is so lovely! It is right up my alley. I’ve been searching for tops that hide the post baby belly that leaves me weeping whenever I have to get dressed. I may be utilizing this idea for my own wardrobe. Congrats on a wonderful piece.

This is so cute! I very much LOVE all your wardrobe revamping. This one may be my favorite because of the neck.
Hey, are you guys well? I just haven’t seen you in forever. Of course, last Sunday was our first day back as a whole, healthy family in about a month.

Lovely! That fabric really is awesome. I enjoy combining and altering patterns too. And I almost always top stitch!

Another great wardrobe revamping idea, thank you for sharing - I will have to remember to come back to your archives next spring (in Australia).

I love this! I have only tried sewing clothes a couple of times, with mixed results. I’ll have to go back and look at all your projects to inspire me.

Even if this were a blog solely about sewing shirts, I would still read it, because you make adorable shirts!! I love every one of them, and I think I would totally buy them if they were in a store. This one is perfect. And I love the blue floral one with pintucks a few posts ahead of this one. I really have to get sewing; I’m so inspired. I have trouble getting good fabric, though. We have zero fabric stores in our area, and it is so hard to buy online.

I so enjoyed your Spring Wardrobe Revamp! You’re so creative. As for myself, I’ll just be glad to not be wearing maternity clothes anymore…
