I’ve decided to make 4 more 15″ x 15″ blocks so it will be longer.

It is so very bright.  Which I love.

What color would you use for the border?

Those are my feet a mere 4 inches from the edge of the bed at 2:30 AM, holding the camera above my head.  Probably not my best photography ever.

I’m getting close here.  Real close.

I made 5 squares and added on to the 11 that these sweet ladies made for me.

So close.

A couple days ago, I showed Emily a stack of fabrics that seemed fitting enough for a little girl, and I asked her, “Emily, which fabric do you like?”

She immediately pulled on this reproduction vintage purple calico, which “made my heart feel super-happy.”  The girl’s got taste, I tell ya.

So I said, “Would you like for Mommy to make you a dress out of this fabric?”

“Okay, Mommy.”  And she was off to do Something Else.

:)

I know it doesn’t-mean-a-hill-of-beans to her right now, but one day she’ll appreciate that Mommy made her some clothes.

She was indifferent to the final product.  Or perhaps just more interested in the broken, hot-pink, superstar sunglasses.  (Hey, at least I didn’t get this response.)

I don’t know why I procrastinate the way I do.  Like how did it take me over a month to get quilt blocks in the mail (quilt blocks that were already quite late)?  Anyway.

I decided to redo Tracy’s block.  I just couldn’t make it work for me.  Now it has some texture.

And I managed to do Kathryn’s 9-patch block within 36 hours of receiving her material.

Which is quite a feat for this procrastinator.  Now that I’m caught up on 12 Square, here’s a peak at my next project:

After seeing this and this and truly a whole host of great handmade clothing, I decided to make Emily another shirt.  Which quickly became a tunic when I decided to put pockets in it.

I used the same pattern that I used for her other shirt, but I added a Peter Pan collar.

Random things of note:

And I’m making this a separate bullet-point so you’ll really notice it:

Right now, Jacob:

  • Walks like a champ
  • Actually, he runs a bit too
  • Laughs at himself
  • Is content to just get a Tigger and a book for his birthday
  • Has a mullet
  • Makes gurgling sounds and trills
  • Makes lovey eyes at me
  • Nurses
  • Rests his finger on his nose as he sucks his thumb
  • Says “mama” and “dada” and cannot say “Emily”
  • But he does love Emily
  • And Sesame Street
  • Shakes his head to be funny
  • Plays the tambourine while dancing/bouncing
  • Obsesses over the remote control
  • Has a natural radar for anything-that-we-didn’t-mean-to-leave-within-his-reach

He’s pretty great, and we love him so.  Happy birthday, little one!

Happy birthday to Evan!  And to Jacob who will be 1 on Friday.  They’re destined to have joint celebrations for the rest of their lives, but isn’t it sweet?

That’s my man. :)

Did you know that Simplicity patterns were .99 at Joann’s this past weekend?  It’s true.  You should never ever buy patterns at full price.  Please don’t.  Unless of course you’re supporting an indie designer.

When I came home Friday and showed Evan my $4 worth of plunder, he laughed at me.  I had somehow managed to get a Lizzie McGuire pattern and 3 Project Runway patterns.   And Evan was quite certain this was related to my obsession with Project Runway.

Nevermind that the patterns have nothing to do with the show.  But he got a good laugh, and he needed that.  His back has been hurting him for several days now (hence our “missing” Easter).

Well anyway… yesterday I needed some stress-relief…

So I made Emily a shirt.  This is Simplicity 3513 (the Lizzie McGuire-themed pattern… published in 2008.  Is that show even on anymore?), minus all elastic bits.

She was so kind as to model it for me today.  Isn’t she the sweetest?

Here’s the crafted gang from last year.  And here’s sweet Emily (and Jacob) last year:

We’ll probably be celebrating on another day due to health issues.  But I hope you all have a blessed Easter!
