A couple days ago, I showed Emily a stack of fabrics that seemed fitting enough for a little girl, and I asked her, “Emily, which fabric do you like?”
She immediately pulled on this reproduction vintage purple calico, which “made my heart feel super-happy.” The girl’s got taste, I tell ya.
So I said, “Would you like for Mommy to make you a dress out of this fabric?”
“Okay, Mommy.” And she was off to do Something Else.
:)

I know it doesn’t-mean-a-hill-of-beans to her right now, but one day she’ll appreciate that Mommy made her some clothes.

She was indifferent to the final product. Or perhaps just more interested in the broken, hot-pink, superstar sunglasses. (Hey, at least I didn’t get this response.)

I really love that you make her clothes, and she will one day too! I still have my cheerleader outfit my mom made me for Halloween in like 1984! It’s priceless!

This. is. perfect. Love the ruffle and crochet trim — gives this simple dress character. Well done, mama!

So sweet. I love the splash of vintage lace in front. Everything is perfect. Sorry her sunglasses broke though.
I’ve been working on a shirt for Lucy in a similar style. But you just gave me an idea on how to make it work better. So, thanks! :)

What a wonderful dress. I still have stuff that my mom made (and I wear so much I remember them) and I can hardly wait for my little girl to wear them:)

Dear Kristena,
I love Emily’s new dress! She is so adorable! I know she will love that you make her such pretty clothes! She does have good taste, I love the purple! The lace is so lovely, the perfect touch!
Love, Paula
P.S. Emily looked so cute in her bear outfit, even though she was not happy about wearing it!

I adore the fabric, and something tells me I may actually have a cut of it in my stash somewhere, but the little coarse lace detail is especially precious!
