I’m bringing y’all my Flickr favorites on a Thursday (instead of the wonderfully alliterated Friday) because, frankly, I had a bad day yesterday.  I have nothing to share except crayoned sofas, pooped-in cribs, and failed T-shirt refashions.

But looking at these images this morning helped me feel inspired again, and I hope they inspire you too!

By the way, does anyone know if ballpoint needles wear out particularly fast?  Or is there another reason why the tension would be way off when I try to sew knit T-shirt material?  I wish I had a Wendy Mullin or an Amy Karol here to guide me last night.

EDIT: Oh, and I did want to tell you that I made a little more progress on the scrappy log cabin quilt.  Thank you for your ideas on the border color - great suggestions!  I’m leaning towards light gray or white.  I have 3 more blocks to make, so we’ll see!

ANOTHER EDIT: Also, my sweet husband brought home pizza last night, which deserves mentioning.  It really made everything better.

AND ANOTHER EDIT: How could I forget to mention that my sweet & thoughtful friend Mardel brought me some thrifted doilies yesterday?  Gah, my day really wasn’t that bad at all.  I’ll have to photograph them and share. :)

The sun is shining today.

I had my tension way off the other day after I’d been sewing lots of knits. It turned out that my poor machine had gotten clogged with lint from the fabric (something that had never happened when I use normal needles and non-knit fabric). I took the little plate off the bobbin holder, removed the bobbin holder and dusted everything off. After that, my tension was just fine again.

*sigh* those are all so dreamy and inspiring.
I’ve always heard that a good rule of thumb is to change needles after every garment. I don’t change that much, but usually after 2 or 3, depending on how my machine was sewing. Just throwing this out there, but is the machine threaded correctly? I’ve had mine get totally out of whack when the thread got mis threaded some kind of way. Now, when things start acting up I change the needle and re-thread, just to be sure.

I don’t have good luck with ballpoint needles. I have to move my top needle tension down way low. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. Glad I’m not the only one who has issues!

The little mushroom house just kills me. Have you ever used one of those applications that finds flickr or etsy pictures by color? I could seriously waste some time with that.

Thank you for sharing your flickr favorites. They are so inspiring and pretty. I look forward to going through them.

I am sorry to hear you had a bad day, but I am glad there were some good things in it, too!

I am glad the sun is shining!
