It’s finished. It has pockets and a slight tulip shape. This was fashioned almost entirely from the bottom ruffle of the dress.
To cinch the waist but leave a little wiggle room, I made it so that the waistband wraps around from the back and ties in the front. Does that even make sense? Anyway, I can tie it in a bow or twist it (as it is in the picture) or whatever. Maybe even a brooch could hold it together on the side.
I think it could be 2 inches shorter. Because less is more. ;)

wow your refashions are really inspiring! you do such a great job at making shapes simple, clean and cute. I esp liked your jean jumper skirt? I’m wanting to sew something like that for my daughter and still trying to get my nerves up to use some Rit on my clothes. I have a pile of clothes waiting to be dyed. hopefully I’ll get the courage up soon. :) thanks for all the inspiration.

I love it! It’s the perfect refashion for that type of fabric! Personally, I think the length is just right, but I don’t particularly like short skirts so what do I know. Either way, you did an excellent job!
Btw, I’m celebrating my 100th blog post today and I’m hosting a giveaway! All are welcome to enter, to feel free to stop by :)

I couldn’t fathom how you would get this to work, but OMG, it works! It is fantastic. I love how you paired it with the black turtleneck. I think it would also go well with a nice black cowl neck tank top. LOVELY!
