About 5 minutes ago, I made him come look at some silly pictures I’ve been tinkering with. Seriously. Remember a few days ago when I mentioned printing postcards? Well, I’m starting to get serious about this. I have a flower theme, and now I just need to know if there’s any interest. Here’s a sampling.

So what do you say? Should they be blank greeting cards instead? What do you folks like? So far, I have 5 photographs ready. But I would love love love your feedback!

I really wasn’t kidding yesterday when I said I’m addicted to Picniking on Flickr. (And you may be learning that I mean it when I say I’m addicted to something… at least for a day or two!) I tinkered with these watercolor flowers I painted for Evan’s Mom until I thought they might make a cool postcard. Now does anyone know how to go about printing postcards?
And here’s a crazy before & after of Emily spinning in the kitchen:

And now my favorites (I tried to choose just one and couldn’t decide!):

Again, it’s a day late. Sorry folks. That’s what happens (to me, anyway) when I don’t think ahead. So…
Flashcards.
That’s what I have on my desk this week. (And, to my credit, this picture was taken yesterday.)
I would like to thank everyone for your thoughts on parenting a toddler and such. I like the idea of getting Emily to help me with everyday tasks. So far, she has helped make peanut butter sandwiches and wash peaches (didn’t end well), and I’m training her to retrieve simple items for me when my hands are full. She’s been really sweet about that and loves getting praised for being a good helper. I’m learning that I probably don’t praise her enough. I spend too much energy correcting her when she needs to hear what she’s doing right.
We did make a 20 minute recording for Emily. Now she begs, “Mommy-Daddy! Mommy-Daddy!” And that’s when we’re right there in the room with her. She just wants to listen to us singing to her and reading verses. It makes us cringe every time (because we know how ridiculous we sound), but it gives us a few minutes to get things done and makes her happier even than Yo Gabba Gabba.
One more thing…
If you live in Tulsa, there’s an event tonight at Dwelling Spaces that you may be interested in. My friend Zuri Louis is part of the design team behind Louis & Cluck–a line of T-shirts celebrating Tulsa. Please come if you can!

Here is something I’m pretty sure you’ll love if you’re female and have babies. And if neither of those things are true of you, you still might enjoy it. But no guarantee.

We got a package in the mail today. Yes. Another. Because we have so many kind and generous people in our lives. Evan’s parents are packing up their home and moving, so a few neat items were passed on to us in the process. Mom D also made Emily a dress, but I have to do a little something to it before it’s finished. Then I’ll share.
Aren’t these plaques adorable though? The first one reminds me of Emily and Jacob. The second reminds me of my niece, D’Lorah. I never see her, but I imagine she looks something like this.

I found a similar plaque at the QTS a while back. These two were made by Mom D. And the potholder was made by her grandmother. It’s destined to go on the wall too. But I might frame it first. Hmm.

Welcome to our home, sweet little sentimental things.
(The “Sugar” and “Coffee” needlepoints were thrifted from the Salvation Army a few months ago. I just never got around to sharing.)

Agreeing to do a post a day both overwhelms and stumps me. Ultimately, it forces me to examine my purpose as a blogger. I feel a bit ADD when it comes to thimbly things. One day I post about thrifting, the next day I post about having babies, and then the next day I talk about watercolors. But Evan reminds me that that is the point. My blog is a slice of life and a window to my personality (which can be a bit ADD). So if I seem unfocused, well, you’re just getting a glimpse of Kristena!
And the irony is that the blog helps me to focus. Believe it or not.

Here’s my box of scrapbooking stuff that I’ve hardly ever used. Just an example of my ADD… scrapbooking requires too much patience for me! (Theresa, I still want to try it, though!) But I think I’m going to use some of my papers to decorate the charging station I posted about yesterday.
Just a side note: I’m typing this one-handed, which seems to be the norm these days. Hold Baby with Hand A, peck at keyboard with Hand B.

I have ever so bravely decided to join in with Jenny at allsorts in A Post a Day in May.
So on this second day of May, I plan to casually peruse my latest finds from the Tulsa Library system:

I saved these books for a quiet moment. Aren’t those little bears so cute?
And I may begin to paint and decoupage this charging station that Evan’s brother made us for Christmas:

This decoupage stool on Craft gave me a bit of inspiration.
Yesterday, I broke open my new watercolors and tried this simple project to get me going. I plan to do a few more little paintings before I share. It only took about 20 minutes from start to finish. So if you have a watercolor set, I highly recommend moving your creative muscles with this project.
I seem to have all the inspiration I need right now. Just need some extra time and energy!
Update on my Flickr dilemma: Evan has agreed to let me sign up for a pro account on Flickr, which I think will improve the quality of pictures I post on my blog. So it’s a win-win. Or maybe even a win-win-win.
